Ubisoft Champions Tactics NFT Game Faces Major Bug During Launch Weekend

Ubisoft new NFT game, Champions Tactics, faced severe issues on its opening weekend, where a matchmaking bug rendered it unplayable, letting only two players dominate the game. Developers have temporarily resolved the issue and are working on a permanent fix.

Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, Ubisoft latest NFT game, encountered an unfortunate launch as a matchmaking bug left the game unplayable throughout the opening weekend. Players reported that an exploit allowed two accounts, Schilleri11 and Paulstar111, to win every match, with one account logging an impressive 56,000 matches.

Crypto gaming analyst and YouTuber Jauwn highlighted the issue on social media, calling it a “passionless grift” from Ubisoft and questioning the lack of weekend support. The issue arose when a bug in the matchmaking system resulted in most players being matched only with these two accounts. While the accounts have since been unbanned and the game is playable again, developers acknowledged the bug could reappear, stating they are working toward a long-term fix.

The incident raised questions about Ubisoft commitment to its first NFT venture, given that it’s a AAA publisher valued at $2 billion. Champions Tactics, designed for PC, involves collectible figurines sold as NFTs with prices ranging significantly. Some NFTs in the game marketplace have prices as high as $129 million, while others fall between $5 and $6.

Despite the controversy, developers hope that the community will be understanding of the players affected by the bug. The game’s future updates aim to provide a more stable experience and rebuild community trust after a challenging launch.
